One of the main goals of a company’s website is to improve its bottom line. In this course, you will propose and build a new website for an existing company. This website should be optimized to boost conversion events for the company in question. In doing so, you will need to research customer behavior and industry trends in order to successfully generate leads and sales. This course will test all of the skills built up through the Web Design major - design, prototyping, optimization, and programming.

Why did everything look like an iPod 5 years ago? Why was everything teal and orange in 2015? Why did tooltips grow in popularity, then virtually disappear? Product design trends influence a great deal of how applications and websites look and function. Students will learn how to keep abreast of design trends and how to avoid the pitfalls that may come with following said trends too closely.
Successful design requires knowing when to follow convention, and when to deviate from it. In this course, students will learn how to determine when their website design should follow the dominant trends, and when they should attempt to deviate from those trends.
This course is delivered online through an institution of the Lower Cost Models Consortium (LCMC) that is different than your degree-granting institution that awards the academic credit for the course.
